The Family School Alliance
The Family School Alliance (FSA) is the official support group for UES. It is made up of all current parents, teachers, staff, and administrators. Membership is automatic and everyone is welcome. The FSA's primary purpose is to serve as the formal link between UES families and the school. The beneficial outcome of this link is the enhancement and solidification of the UES community. The latest information on school activities and events is published weekly in BackPack Notes, which is produced collaboratively by the FSA and UES. BackPack Notes is available every Friday online or in a hard copy format. The FSA also hosts community activities throughout the school year, oversees an after-school enrichment program and provides enrichment support for school programs. UES uses the supplemental funds raised by the Family School Alliance to augment the educational program through field trips, concerts, and other school programs.
The FSA Executive Board is composed of the FSA's co-presidents, its secretary, and its treasurer. The FSA co-presidents meet weekly with the principal and the assistant principal, as well as three or four times a year with the Teacher Leadership Council, to plan and discuss ways in which the FSA can best support UES' educational and cultural programs. Monthly meetings, held to inform and to plan for FSA activities, are run by the FSA Executive Board and committee chairs and are open to all members; parents are encouraged to attend and lend their voice to the proceedings. Please check BackPack Notes for the dates and times.
