Corinne A. Seeds University Elementary School seeks passionate and dedicated educators who can inspire and nurture a love of learning.
Corinne A. Seeds University Elementary School is currently seeking bilingual demonstration teachers for its Learning in Two Languages (LTL) program, a two-way immersion model designed to facilitate proficiency in English and Spanish. UES is a laboratory elementary school affiliated with the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies at UCLA. The school has established a reputation for innovative practice over its 125-year history and provides a stimulating and supportive environment to teachers. UES is in the process of expanding its work in urban education by establishing new campuses in underserved communities of Los Angeles and is seeking highly motivated teachers who would like to be part of that work.
Preferred Qualifications: UES is always seeking great teachers! We look for evidence of expertise and leadership in a variety of teaching initiatives, including experience with research and/or curriculum development. Bilingual candidates should possess Spanish speaking, writing, and reading proficiency skills; have a BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language Acquisition and Development) certification or the equivalent; possess a multiple subject teaching credential; and have had five or more years of experience working in a bilingual classroom, at least three of which are at the elementary level.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach in a team environment in a progressive, multi-age setting. Teachers work in partnership with families to promote the growth and development of elementary children, work directly with university students, model effective teaching for observers, collaborate with other UES faculty, and participate in inquiry-based research.
Application Process: Interested candidates should apply online at the UES website (www.ues.gseis.ucla.edu). Selected candidates will be asked to do a demonstration lesson in their own classroom and may be invited to UES for an interview. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Questions regarding the application process may be directed to Luawana Parker, Assistant to the Principal, at (310) 825-1557 or parker@gseis.ucla.edu.
