Teaching
UES provides an innovative educational program for its 435 students ages 4-12. The children learn and grow together in an environment of respect for the individual and care for the community.
Our goals are for UES students to:
- develop their powers of thought and a capacity to understand and communicate ideas effectively
- develop independence and self reliance
- understand who they are and appreciate and understand others who are different from themselves
- learn the basic skills needed for success in the modern world
- develop the ability to work in collaboration with others
- develop a lifelong love of learning
We achieve these goals by encouraging children's ideas, creativity and imagination while helping them to develop problem solving and conflict resolution skills. We create a learning environment rich in real-world experiences and thought-provoking activities to help children develop the ability to think creatively and to use and question a variety of sources of information.
