Classrooms

UES is organized in multi-age groupings except for the youngest and oldest children. The program for 4-year-olds provides a nurturing introduction to a school environment and helps children to engage in learning with their peers. The multi-age groupings accommodate a wide range of development in children, promote cooperation rather than competition among peers and allow children and teachers to develop longer term relationships. The program for 11- to 12-year-olds addresses the specific needs of pre-adolescents and prepares students for the transition to middle school.
