Technology
As our society continues to move into the Information/Communication Age, we at UES are committed to ensuring that our students have the skills to succeed in a fast-paced digital society where information is available instantly, delivery is mobile, and working interactively and networking with others simultaneously is commonplace.
UES is committed to creating a learning environment that addresses this complex set of variables and explores the notion of providing students with new tools for learning to give them voice for their work.
We strive to prepare our digital natives by weaving together 21st century learning skills to include:
- Integrating technology into instruction through web searching, database construction, and creation of multimedia projects
- Teaching information literacy skills (e.g. finding, evaluating and using information) in the meaningful context of project-based learning
- Using technology to visually represent students’ understanding of learning concepts and ideas
- Using technology to enhance student productivity and promote creativity
- Working together as a community of learners to solve problems and combine different levels of expertise in technology
- Exploring the educational purpose of new tools such as podcasts and blogs
By ensuring that Learning for the 21st Century is occurring at UES, we are educating students for their future.
